James and Louise Burton Receive P.R.I.D.E. Award

The Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau honored James and Louise Burton with a 2011 P.R.I.D.E. Award for the James Burton Foundation Recording Studios.

The Bureau holds the P.R.I.D.E. Awards Gala each year during National Travel and Tourism Week to recognize outstanding employees, venues, events, organizations, and other partners that have helped grow and sustain the convention and tourism industries in the region. P.R.I.D.E. is the acronym for Proud Residents Involved in Developing Our Economy.

James and Louise Burton traveled to DeKalb Texas at the invitation of the Rick Nelson Museum in honor of what would have been his seventy-first birthday. James was Rick Nelson’s lead guitar from 1958–1965.

Foundation Donates Guitars

James will present guitars on behalf of the Foundation to the Natchitoches Chapter of The Boys and Girls Club at the Natchitoches Jazz and R&B Festival on Saturday 16 April. James says that The Boys and Girls Club is a natural fit for the Foundation, and he is very excited about partnership with such a great organization. Also, James will perform at the Festival with Johnny Earthquake and the Moondogs. They perform at 5pm Saturday on the Cane River Stage in downtown Natchitoches.
